Where we come from

ForwoodAI is built by Junaid Shaikh, COO of Forwood Forestry, and draws directly on Forwood's own work growing, managing, and trading teak in Panama. Forwood owns and develops plantations across Panama's Colón region — real, named properties like Finca 19, Santo Domingo, and Nuevo Ocú, not hypotheticals in a slide deck — and is part of Green Growth Nordic, a Swedish forestry investment group. Forwood also protects 700 hectares of virgin jungle from illegal logging and slash-and-burn.

Beyond its own land, Forwood has spent 10 years managing more than 1,100 hectares on behalf of other landowners in Panama — thinning, harvest, and timber sales handled end to end. That hands-on services work is where most of what ForwoodAI now automates was first done by hand.

Why we built ForwoodAI

Every problem ForwoodAI solves came from doing the work ourselves, not from a whiteboard. Manual tape surveys take days per plantation. Counting a stand by hand invites human error. And knowing exactly which trees are ready to thin — and which are already export grade — has always relied on someone experienced walking the rows with a tape measure and a lot of patience.

ForwoodAI is the tool we wished we'd had: built to do in minutes what used to take a trained eye and a full day in the field.

What ForwoodAI does today

ForwoodAI identifies teak by species, counts trees, estimates girth, flags export-grade stock, and calculates Hoppus volume — built for people standing in a plantation with a phone in hand, not sitting at a desk with a spreadsheet.

Where we operate

Forwood's plantations are concentrated in Panama's Colón region, with trading relationships across Latin America. ForwoodAI is built first for teak growers and traders here, and is expanding from there.
